Re: Amos Minter Thunderbirds
I own a Mintor car , my 57 F code which he did in 2008, it is as close to perfect as you could expect. That is not to say that everything was perfect by today's standards but the goal post move over time. I have gotten to know Amos and Justin Minter pretty well and I have high respect for both of th...

Re: Some more AC issues
I would bet on a bad expansion valve blocking the freon from flowing but you should be able to see this with a gauge set as it will make higher than normal head pressure.

Re: A/C issues - icing up
Can you see ice if you look through the outlet to the evaporator (I think) while it is running and starts blowing tepid air. Also the compressor should be cycling of and on as the car get cooler.

Re: Carburetor thoughts - rebuild or replace
I have never had any problems with the Autolite 4100 if it is rebuilt and adjusted properly.

Re: 66 dying unexpectedly
Check the ignition switch if you haven't replaced or for that matter if you have. A loose wire or a bad internal connection. I would try running a jumper from the battery to the coil and see what happens. Don't run it too long this way as that will give full voltage to the coil but that could also b...

Re: Intermittent dash lights
Will the dash lights stay on if the dimmer is turned to the maximum brightness? It very easily could be the rheostat spring opening and closing with heat, on most switches the rheostat spring is taken out of the circuit at max setting. Or you could have a problem in some other part of the switch as ...

Re: 1966 duel master break
I know this is a popular modification and I understand the benefit of the dual chamber master cylinder. The thing is I don't have a classic car with a dual chamber and have never had a problem. Think about the millions of cars that ran all over the country with the old techknowledgey without daily c...

Re: Changing the Focus of These Forums
I have had and still have concours Tbirds as well as drivers and I enjoyed them both in very different ways. The forum is very important to a lot of people even though they don't all post. If I have some useful information I try to chime in and add to the discussion. I know not everyone has or wants...

Re: Bent push rods
I presume lifters can be bought individually but I'm not sure. I would be more concerned with what if anything went down into the engine. Not sure what to tell you about how to check on that problem.

Re: Bent push rods
When you say the spring was broken on one lifter what exactly do you mean? There is a retaining clip and a piston like device above any spring. I would get a Ford service manual and read about the valve train and the push rods. They are normally available in different lengths with the difference les...

Re: Bent push rods
I don't think you can get the lifters out without removing the manifold realistically. I don't think the lifters are your problem unless one has collapsed which would make it noisy, and not bend the pushrod. Also I would get new pushrods if it were me. You will have to keep the straight pushrods in ...

Re: Bent push rods
To my knowledge the Ford FE's, at least the 390's, are not interference engines therefore a stuck lifter or jumped cam timing will not bend a pushrod. What will bend the pushrods is a stuck valve/s which if the car had been sitting is very likely.

Re: Deck Lid Weatherstripping Replacement
If you study the drawing carefully you will see that the seal is glued on the side across both sides of the trunk lid and across the front. On the back across the rear of the deck lid it is glued to the back of the seal. You will need to get down to clean metal/paint if you are to have any realistic...
